One of the biggest lies of society is this.
“Oh I’m so busy.”
You hear it all the time.
How’re you doing?
Just busy….
Be careful…busy-ness is often a mask for chaos.
When you’re “too busy” it’s easy to let your finances be chaotic.
The truth is…it’s just not a priority to you.
If you’re ready to make your finances a priority, today we’re going to address how to organize any chaotic financial situation.
3 easy steps:
- What’s where
- Create a cash plan
- Simplify
What’s where?
To get started organizing your finances, you need to figure out what you have where.
This is as simple as using a spreadsheet to outline everything you own and everything you owe.
Here’s a simple money organizer template I use with my clients.
Use this template to provide you a high level view of your financial situation.
That’s really what your net worth is - and that’s why we start here.
This is your map.
You’ve now got a view on your entire financial picture and know exactly where to go.
Now we take a step into the detail and figure out what the heck to do with your cash.
Build your cash plan
Now you’re ready to build your cash plan.
When you have a cash plan, you know exactly how to follow the path you created.
I use YNAB for this with my clients.
You’re going to connect all of the relevant accounts from your net worth template when you create your cash plan.
Keep it simple - only link liquid cash so it’s more of a “spending plan”,
That way all of your money gets a job and you have a plan for all of your cash.
My course Family Legacy Builder walks through exactly how to create your cash plan and use YNAB.
You can find out more info here.
Simplify your bank accounts
After you’ve used YNAB for a while, you’ll begin to get a new level of clarity.
You’ll notice when subscriptions bill and you can create categories to save for these.
You’ll have a plan for your emergency cash.
You’ll be able to eliminate any unnecessary charges.
And you’ll find out what your monthly nut is for your business and your family.
Once you dial this in, create a new family account and transfer your family cash there.
Move all family bills to the new accounts and keep the business bills on your business account.
You’ve now created a dynamic system and taken control of your finances.
